Unexpected Events in the Wilderness

When mom and I went to get my Mammy and Pappy Klinger there was a tree down on our return trip home from the high winds.  It was across the road and we thought it was heavy, but I could move it out of the way by myself.  If it had been heavier we would have had a hard time and would have needed other tools for the job.  Mom didn’t have a chainsaw this time, but she had a chain in the back of the truck just for this occasion and she also had an axe.  We didn’t need it this time, but living where we do it is necessary to travel with some of these essential items because you may see a fallen tree.

Here are some tips:

If your truck brakes down you should have a blanket with you until helps comes. During the winter months you should always carry extra clothes and a sleeping bag because out here the weather turns quickly.   If you run out of food out in the middle of  wilderness you should have a survival kit with you that includes water, a fire starter, peanuts and other sustainable foods like dried fruit. Also be sure to tell your Friends or Family where you are going.
